MONGOLIA`S OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL BRINGS NATIONAL CELEBRATION
Ulaanbaatar. /MONTSAME/. First Mongolian Olympic Champion was born in Beijing arena of the 29th Olympics Game bringing the national celebration to the Mongolian nations. Mongolia gained its first gold medal in the 29th Olympics Game in Beijing on Thursday August 14, 2008. Tuvshinbayar Naidan, 24, won on Thursday a gold medal in the judo wrestling in -100kgs category defeating his opponent Askhat Zhitkeyev from Kazakhstan. Mongolians are celebrating this remarkable event throughout the country with much happiness. Mongolia's gold medal in this Olympic Game is first ever happened in the sports history of Mongolia. Tuvshinbayar, born in Bulgan province, raised the national flag of Mongolia with the sound of Mongolian national anthem in the Beijing sky with noisy applaud of Mongolia's fans in Beijing sport hall and all over Mongolia. Tuvshinbayar won powerful wrestlers from Japan, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in the judo competition of the Beijing Olympics Game. |

Contest’s Objective:
To advertise the Mongolian natural beauty, people’s living and culture, to encourage foreign and domestic tourists and photographers, and to establish photo fund with their photos and enrich photo database for promotional purposes.
Deadline:
The Contest commences on July 18, 2008 and continues until September 12, 2008.
Categories:
The participants shall submit their photos according to the following categories.
People / Portrait / five candidates, 1 winner /
Nature / Animal / five candidates, 1 winner /
Culture / five candidates, 1 winner /
Humor / five candidates, 1 winner /
Prize:
Category winners will be awarded with trophy and cash.

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/. A total eclipse of the sun occurred on 1st of August in some areas of Mongolia. The main line of the eclipse of the sun passed through the areas of Bulgan, Altai and Buyant soums of Bayan-Ulgii aimag and Uyench, Bulgan and Altai soums of Khovd aimag. The eclipse continued in the soums from 2 seconds to 11 minutes.
Specialists concluded that the eclipse started in Ulaanbaatar city at 5:45 p.m. and turned into the normal condition at around 8 p.m. The eclipse reached its peak period at 7:15 p.m. and covered 80 percent of the sun.
The eclipse began from the territory of Canada, passed through territories of Greenland, Russia and Mongolia and finished in China. The eclipse that is calculated as a rare phenomenon in the astronomy science occurred in Mongolia several times. The last eclipses were recorded in March 1997 and March 2007.

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/. A demonstration of professional sumo wrestling in Ulaanbaatar city will be held August 26-28 in the Mongolian Wrestling Palace. The round of sumo tournament called "Mongol bashyo" is organized by the "Asashyoryu" foundation from Mongolian side. It is expected that the event will be participated by more than 120 sumo wrestlers from Japan. This measure will be broadcasted by the "NHK".

Book about 13th century music
Teacher of the Culture and Arts University, State Prize holder, composer and doctor of arts S.Soronzonbold has written and published a research book named "Mongolian music and the 13th century". In 2005, he delivered a report themed "Mongolian music of the 13th century" at scientific conference in scope of the exhibition "Chinggis Khaan and his descendants" in Germany' Bonn city. He also announced a Chinggis Khaan's sacrificial song for the first time to the world. Considering that, S.Soronzonbold aimes to tell through his book that a history of Mongolia's ceremony, military, civilian, customs, shamanism and religion' music influenced on development of the Oriental music, kinds of the European opera and ballet. For being able to tell so, he has researched sacrificial music played at the times of Mongolian emperors like Chinggis Khaan, Ogoodei, Zuchi and others. |
