Mongolia’s transportation sector bears little resemblance to that at the beginning of the country’s transition to a market economy. Prior to the transition, most transport services were provided by state-owned companies at heavily subsidized tariffs. Now, road passenger and freight transport, urban passenger transport and aviation services have either been privatized and/or private operators are in competition with the state owned operators. Mongolia is located between Russia and China and a land-blocked country is possible to enter railway or airway.

Air transportation - Air transport plays an important role in the Mongolian economy, especially for tourists. Chinggis Khaan International Airport outside of Ulaanbaatar is the only airport in Mongolia that offers international flights. Direct flights are available from Berlin, Moscow, Beijing, Hohhot, Seoul, Irkustk, and Tokyo. Mongolia also has one heliport. Aero Mongolia and Eznis airlines operate scheduled and charter domestic flights to 21 aimags. E-tickets and paper ticket is available. So many ways to book tickets are throughout the world also in Mongolia. Local travel agencies and air ticketing agencies are selling the tickets and give more information for clients.
