Saker Falcon export ban

The National bird of Mongolia, the Saker Falcon is not allowed to be exported for trade for 5 years starting from this year. It is estimated that approximately 6800 Saker Falcons had habitats in Mongolia in summer for reproduction and a very few of them stayed during winter in 2010.
The Saker Falcon is ecologically worth saving because in grasslands they decrease field mouse numbers and balance the ecosystem naturally. The Government also gave directions to the related implementing agencies to improve controls over the illegal trapping and smuggling of falcons for trade.
