Guest ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ): Just a question

I'm really interested in doing a tour of Mongolia living with the nomads for about a month or so in the next few years. But can't find any information useful to me anywhere. I'm from New Zealand and there just seems to be no information here, I've been trying to get an idea of prices to fly there but flights to Ulaanbaatar are extremely limited! I'd probably have to fly into China then find my way over the border!! It's gunna be a hard trip to plan! If I wasn't so intrigued by Mongolian culture I wouldn't bother! Plus places with names like Chinggis Khaan just sound like tourist ploys. I want to walk on the same ground as Ghengis Khan.

So if anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated!!

Erhard Tietel

I'm doing a paper about Russian-Chinese Relations during the early Cold War. If anyone could give me info about this railway connecting Moscow and Berlin it would be much appreciated.

Guest: Mister

Why is that the Mongolian Tourism Department allows the airlines and the hotels and taxis and many others to charge tourists a higher fare and prices than the Mongolians are charged?.  I find this very annoying and it smacks of racism and greed.  It turns me and other off of Mongolia!

Peter ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ): the flights

Hello Vivek. I think there are no direct flights from India to Mongolia but I believe there are flights with a stop over - for example stopping over in Beijing. Air China might be worth a look. I'm not sure about the visas. Good luck!

Peter.

Jessica, teaming up for a tour is a great idea but I'd have to wait and see if any more are interested. There's safety in numbers too I guess up to a point. Amazing country.

Diane Delani ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ): Pick pockets

Well, the pick pocket issue is a very real one. But lets be honest, they are in EVERY tourist area, Paris, Rome, all major tourist cities, I either know someone who has been pick pockted, or I have been myself. Heck, I even travelled to Pembrokeshire, and stayed in a little rural holiday cottages and it happened. Pembrokeshire is a sleepy little place, with low crime rates, I even booked through Pembrokeshire holiday cottages but it happened, again Pembrokeshire is a low crime county in Wales!!!

So yeah, I agree with Gilly, don't let it give this place a bad name, it happens everywhere.
